Have you tried these? Larabar... they are delicious and all natural. The one pictured above, "Cherry Pie," has 3 ingredients: dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries. I first tried these little beauties at the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville (which I FINISHED! Yay me!) last year - they handed out mini-bars. They are a GREAT energy booster without the crapola found in other Powerbar-type things (preservatives, artificial sweeteners & other "non-food" junk). They do have kind of a lot of calories -200 or so and some unsaturated fat (from the nuts), but I tell you, they are great about an hour before a hard workout or run, because really, you want a 200 or so calorie snack at that time anyway. We take them on hikes too... convenient.
Other fave flavors: Apple Pie, Lemon, Key Lime, Chocolate Coconut Chew
Try, you'll like. They are not available at every grocery store, I've found, so you may have to check a few.

More on my whole-food diet a la Jillian Michaels in a later post.
Happy Tuesday.
I love these. I also really like Luna bars, specifically Lemon Zest.
ReplyDeleteI love food. I hate living here sometimes, though. Is ANY of this available? Nope? Can I have all the refried beans I want? Yes.
ReplyDeleteUm, yay to you for finishing the half marathon!!
ReplyDeleteI may have to try these AFTER lent...giving up many tasty sweets :(
WK - They are just dried fruit and nuts! Not even a bit of added sugar. You'd like that one - cherries!
ReplyDeleteKy - Bummer. I might have you send you some. :)
