What the hell, Ben?

So, I'm a Steelers Fan. I went to Miami University with Ben Roethlisberger. Well, OK, I didn't know him at all. I should say, I went to Miami University most of the same years that Ben played football there. It was cool, and when he got drafted by the Steelers in 2004, I was super happy. I always liked the Steelers, but that sealed the deal. I'm a fan. And what a great team to be a fan of, right? Winning seasons and 2 Super Bowl wins since then. Awesomeness.

In college, Ben had quite the reputation of being an arrogant ass. But that's a star quarterback for you, right? No big deal.

Well, apparently fame and fortune did not help Ben to become a nicer dude. It seems this is now quite out of control. I'm disappointed. Story here.

Also, how horrible does he look now? What's with the mullet? Remember, Ben, when we used to call ourselves (Miami U) "mullet hunters" when Marshall came to town?

Thank you, husband, for having the foresight to buy me a Polamalu jersey.

Design It! Or, what?

OK, so this is not a funny post. Sorry, peeps.

Someone asked me to do something today which I strongly oppose. More specifically, a superior asked me to use an image of a celebrity on advertising for a bar. Even more specifically, to steal an image of a celebrity (meaning we don't have permission, nor have purchased rights) and use it to promote a specific event at more than a couple bars/restaurants around the country. Apparently, this "strategy" has been approved by the client and the company I work for has been released from all liability, should something happen.

I have refused to do it... not because I'm worried about getting in trouble, but because I feel the need to uphold my integrity in this industry where these kinds of practices run rampant. I'm fairly certain there will be no serious consequences (ie - getting fired) that come from my unwillingness to do this. In fact, I am fairly certain my position on this will be respected. However, hypothetically speaking, say it comes down to this: Do what I ask, or I'll find someone else who will. What would you do?

I kind of need a job, however, do I need any job bad enough that I will compromise this thing - this seemingly small thing - that I'm protecting?

Rock Fans Rejoice

I may be behind on this news... but I just discovered the new band Them Crooked Vultures. Can I just say, they rock.

Here's the cool thing. The band is made up of:

Dave Grohl: Nirvana dummer, Foo Fighters front man and Queens of the Stone Age drummer
Josh Homme: Queens of the Stone Age front man and record producer
...and...
John Paul Jones: Led Zepplin bassist

Um, awesome!

I listened to an interview with them on Alt Nation, Sirius Radio last week where they said this is all about their fans (hence the free release of their first single, New Fang) and about the music, not about the big bucks. Refreshing! And I actually believe them, as they also admit their album is not super easy to digest. I dig it though.

You can listen to New Fang here.

I don't feel quite as bad now...

Taylor Lautner is 18 today. So, now it's not like creepy or illegal for me to think he's super cute (and I mean he's hot! not... I want to pinch his cheeks).

Or... is it still creepy? Ugh. I hate getting old.
