Question for Runners

So, when I hit about 3 miles, my left foot falls asleep. I have to stop and shake it out and walk a little before it comes back. Anyone else have this problem? When I was training for the Nashville 1/2, I never had this issue... it's come up since I started getting into running again. Do I need new shoes maybe?

30 Day Challenge: Complete

So, I did it. Sort of. I skipped a few days... but whatcha gonna do? Life happens. However, I definitely got into a routine of working out 5-6 days/week instead of 3-4... so that's something. And, I ended with a bang... two 5K runs this weekend! Did I stop and walk a bit occasionally between the Ks? Yep. Am I OK with that? You bet.

On to a new goal: increase my weekly mileage by at least 1 mile/week for the next 12 weeks. So, I'm at 7 or so now, so by the end of this, I should be running 19-20. Then I'll be ready to dive in to the 1/2 marathon training schedule.

Good thing Daylight Savings is here! (I've been counting the days...) I can run outside after work now! Woo hoo!

(I used to run outside after work in the dark... until one night I tripped and broke my finger, of all things. I had Tucker with me, and it was on a sort-of busy road, and thank God he didn't freak and run into traffic. Anyway, that incident scared me into only running in the daylight, which I'm sure is a much better idea.)

Runnin'

Last year at this time I was training for the Rock & Roll Half Marathon in Nashville and was running... oh... 25 miles/week. Awesome, right? I mean, not to toot my own horn, but I NEVER thought I would be able to do that.

I went, I ran (most of it) and I finished it. Woohoo! Then I took a "break" from running. Like... for 6 months. And, now, well... I suck. Comparatively, anyway. I can barely do 3 miles in one shot, and some days I can't even do that. And my weekly mile count? Oh, about 7. Maybe. Not to mention I've gained some weight. Boo.

So, I've decided I need a new goal, and since this blog has held me accountable on my 30-Day Challenge, I think by posting this, it will be the extra motivation I need to JUST DO IT. *swoosh*

No, no, not the WHOLE marathon! Are you CRAZY?! I'm planning to run the half... and run the entire 13.1 miles this time. No walking. Yes, it's 7 months away... which is good since (as I stated before) I suck at the moment.

Anyone want to do this with me? Last time, my dear friend and maid of honor, Jennifer, trained in Ohio as I trained here in Charlotte and we met up in Nashville to kick some ass. She beat me. :) But this year, she is busy growing a human, so no running for her.

Training buddy? Anyone?
